Pyes Pā Art Lovers

Pyes Pā Art Lovers was born from a simple yet powerful idea: that art has the ability to connect, inspire, and celebrate the unique character of our local community.

Our Story

The journey began in 2025 when local artist Cathi Barker and community hall chair recognised the wealth of artistic talent within the Western Bay of Plenty and Tauranga area that needed a dedicated spotlight. Cathi with the help of a small team (Dennis, Dianne and myself) organised the inaugural local art exhibition at the Pyes Pā Community Hall with the dual purpose of showcasing the incredible work of established and young local artists, while also creating a space for the community to engage directly with their creativity and develop a love for art.

The first exhibition was a tremendous success, proving that there was a strong appetite for a dedicated local art showcase. The energy, enthusiasm, and support from both the artists and the community made it immediately clear that this event needed to become a permanent fixture.

Our Mission

We are now proud to host this vibrant event annually. Our mission is simple:

• To Champion Local Artists: Provide a professional, accessible, and supportive platform for Pyes Pā artists—from seasoned creators to emerging young talent—to exhibit and sell their incredible pieces.

• To Enrich the Community: Offer an opportunity for all residents and visitors to engage with, appreciate, and acquire high-quality local art, fostering a deeper connection between the community and local artists and develop a community of Art Lovers.

• To Inspire the next Generation: Encourage creativity and participation in the arts throughout the Western Bay of Plenty and Tauranga region.

Pyes Pā Art Lovers is more than just an exhibition; it's a dedicated space where local talent shines and community spirit flourishes. We look forward to welcoming you to our next show!
